The Preserve Golf Club

The 18-hole "Preserve" course at the The Preserve facility in Tucson, Arizona features 7,006 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 .
The Preserve is a good but not great desert course. I am glad I played it, but it would not be a first choice to play again. The course is in reasonably good shape (fairways are green but the rough is dormant), and the greens rolled true, but the bunkers were not well maintained. Part of the reason for a lack of enthusiasm is a lack of amenities that one expects at a first rate course. There is no one to pick up a bag at the bag drop; no complimentary water; no towel; $2 for about 15 balls on the range. No one told me at the pro shop that I had to buy tokens, so I had to make a return trip to buy a couple of tokens. Just puts one in the wrong frame of mind to start a round.
Played the Preserve yesterday, Mar. 17/12 and enjoyed it immensely. I must say right off that the folks in the pro shop were the most polite and accommodating that we've had to deal with yet. What a great way to start a round. The course was superb, beautiful sites, excellent conditions, and incredible views. The pace was excellent, especially considering it was a Sat. and the windy conditions could have made the pace much slower. This is certainly a must-play for people in the Tucson area and though we drove from Gilbert, 1 1/2 hours, I would do so again to enjoy the course and the people who welcomed us. Many thanks!!!
The was the nicest of the 4 courses I played on my golf trip (also Quarry Pines, Skyline CC, The Views GC at Vistoso). Definitely worth the lower afternoon prices. Snack bar closes early in the afternoon, 3:00 I think they told us.
Absolutely beautiful course in the Catalina foothills. Greens are well manicured and fair. Fairways are in great shape. Course is challenging but quite enjoyable. Look forward to playing it again. Bring lots of balls for your first round. Surprise gorges and washes!!!
