Coldwater Golf Club
100 North Clubhouse Drive Avondale, AZ 85323
Coldwater is framed by mountain views, native grasses, meandering washes and two placid lakes located ten minutes West of Downtown Phoenix.
I played Coldwater yesterday, the greens are tough and tour quality, the bermuda has not started to grow and the first bounce was half a club, speed downhill puts were fun and very fast.
This was my first time at Coldwater Creek and it was an enjoyable round. The fairways are forgiving and the greens in decent shape. The clubhouse staff offered good service and the prices were decent for a golf course. My only complaint was that there was no cart service. We never saw one person our entire round.
I did enjoy the layout of the course, it wasnt just straight forward course. It had some challenging holes, some of the greens were elevated, some had bunkers and/or hills around the greens making it interesting.
The practice greens were in terrible shape, but luckily had no relation to the actual greens, which were medium speed and rolled true. Perfect sand in the bunkers, not hard pan like so many area courses. An interesting layout and cooler but sunny weather made for an enjoyable round. I would definitely play Coldwater again given the chance.
THE FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH WERE PRETTY GOOD, NOW AS FOR THE GREENS THEY WERE LUMPY TOO MUCH OF THE GREENS WERE IN BAD SHAPE MADE IT TOO DIFFICULT TO MAKE A GOOD PUTT. THE TWOSOME WE WERE WITH POINTED IT OUT EVERYTIME WE GOT ON THE GREEN. FORTUNATELY SOME PIN PLACEMENTS WERE ON THE BETTER PART OF THE GREENS. BUT FOR THE MOST PART IS WAS A GOOD DAY FOR GOLF.
