Kokopelli Golf Course
1800 W. Guadalupe Rd. Gilbert, AZ 85233
Taking a short drive from Sky Harbor Airport, Arizona State University, Downtown Phoenix, or Old Town Scottsdale, puts you right on the first tee at Kokopelli Golf Club.
Just played this layout today and it's in mostly good shape...some of the areas off the fairway are bare since they don't over seed...hopefully they'll be seeding a bit extra this year as I'd say grass is totally gone for about 5%. Greens, which are far more important, were in excellent shape..tough as nails but rolling well. Around the greens, good growth of grass as well, so long as one wasn't too far off the beaten path. An enjoyable layout with enough challenges and, as always, a good value course.
I would recommend playing Kokopelli golf course because of its great location right in the middle of east valley, overall upkeep, and reasonable costs. The only downsides are high handicap golfers can slow play a bit and the driving range can get crowded. For public golf in the east valley you can do a lot worse and pay a lot more in costs. Book in advance for good savings and enjoy!
THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE PLAYED THIS COURSE. THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND PRETTY BUT THE PLAY WAS VERY, VERY SLOW. BE SURE TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL, EVEN BRING ALONG A HELMET TO WEAR ON HOLE 18. THE PRACTICE RANGE BALLS PELTED US!
Could not figure the speed of the greens...my problem.
Course was in great shape. Fairways are narrow with fairway bunkers on numerous holes. Sand traps are some of the nicest in the area. Lots of water and if it's your first round there, plan on bringing extra balls. Third hole is almost an island green! All in all a good, challenging course, with lots of difficulty for the bogey (plus) golfer.
