Desert Willow Firecliff offered me an amazing challenge. I played the whites which was about 6100 yards and it was plenty if not to much. The fairways and greens are impeccable. The green was like being in Ireland. The fairways were forgiving. The transition sand areas are really tough. Must use a lot more club. My only negative comment would be to many sand traps.

A demanding course that has much risk-reward decisions to make. Pace of play 4 1/2 hours. Coot problem is lessened, but, still there.Dining after golf was really great.

For the past three years, this is my favourite golf facility in the desert

I love playing the Desert Willow courses. They are in great shape and the landscaping and course design is fair and challenging. My only gripe is the pace of play which yesterday was 5 hours. I never saw a ranger on the course and the GPS does not display even a suggested time to stay on pace. Although the weather is typically perfect and the scenery beautiful, I would prefer to spend more time at the bar following my round than rushing to beat sunset or waiting on every shot.

The Course was Great, the Staff was Great, but the Sand traps and Tee boxes were not Not Great. The Sand traps are compacted very hard, not turned over enough. They are more like waste areas. The Tee boxes are uneven and not repaired often as is required. Attention to these details would make Desert Willow a 5 star golf experience rather than 4. Please maintain the sand traps better and more often by turning them over. I land in them now and then and need a better lie to save par. Thanks for everything.
